Ryokan Asakusa Shigetsu – A Favorite for Families in Tokyo

Ryokan Asakusa Shigetsu operates two gender-separated public baths, each offering a view of Senso-ji Temple's Five-storied Pagoda. The Hinoki wood bath on the property provides a view of Tokyo Skytree, a feature not commonly found in Tokyo hotels. Bathing hours run from 16:00 to 23:00 in the evening and 07:00 to 09:00 in the morning, giving guests two windows to use the facility.

The hotel sits a 5-minute walk from Asakusa Subway Station, which offers direct access to Ueno, Shibuya, and Ginza, as well as to Narita and Haneda international airports. Nakamise-dori Street and Senso-ji Temple are within a 2-minute walk, placing guests at the center of Tokyo's historic district. The street in front of the hotel is closed to general vehicles during the day, keeping the area quiet despite its central location.

Guests can choose from Japanese-style rooms with tatami flooring and futon bedding or Western single rooms, each equipped with air conditioning, a satellite TV, and a refrigerator. Each room includes an en suite bathroom, a hairdryer, yukata robes, a tea set, and complimentary mineral water. Some north-facing rooms previously offered views of Senso-ji Temple and the Five-storied Pagoda, though a seven-story building scheduled for construction north of the hotel will block that view until autumn 2026.

The on-site restaurant serves traditional Japanese breakfast and meals, though the chef recently retired and the hotel is currently searching for a replacement. During this transition, the front desk provides a map of nearby restaurants and eateries within a short walk. Guests staying in rooms without meal plans can explore the abundant food options along Nakamise-dori Street and in the Asakusa area.

The hotel offers family rooms and has an elevator, making it accessible for guests with luggage or strollers.
